Your role as Service Garage Fitter
We are looking for an experienced Service Garage Fitter to be based at our Jubilee Campus Hub to assist with the service, maintenance and repair of grounds vehicles and equipment for the Estates Landscape & Grounds Department. The role will cover all handheld equipment ensuring that all work complies with safe working practices and health and safety legislation. You will work with and monitor our current HAVs systems ensuring machinery is in full working order and equipment is serviced on an annual basis. Other duties will include maintaining and servicing all garage equipment undertaking welding, cutting and metal fabrication works as requested to appropriate standards and you will obtain quotes and order materials for machinery spares and equipment as necessary using our online ordering system.
The successful candidate should be qualified to City & Guilds Phase 2 in motor vehicle maintenance, agricultural and horticultural machinery maintenance or hold the equivalent qualification and have extensive relevant experience within a similar role. Due to the frequency with which the role holder will drive a wide range of university vehicles a full current driving licence which includes C1 + E categories is also essential for this post.

This is permanent, full time post. Hours of work are, 36.25 hours per week, working mainly Monday to Friday. Flexibility will be required. Job share arrangements may be considered.
The successful candidate for this post will be expected to attend the Estates and Facilities training courses which run Monday to Friday mornings. Further details will be given at interview.
