YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
WHAT YOU’LL DO
In this role, you’ll plan, implement, and evaluate care and, in conjunction with the ward manager, you’ll be involved with auditing standards of care carried out by our nursing team. You will also:
- keep up to date with clinical developments in Cellular Therapies
- be involved with auditing standards of care carried out by the nursing team
- maintain your own competence and knowledge within your particular area of specialism
You’ll supervise the professional work of nursing staff and be expected to exercise good leadership skills. You’ll act as a role model to our staff, encouraging effective working relationships and the development of a cohesive nursing team
We are looking for highly motivated, experienced and enthusiastic nurses with a genuine interest in haematology and stem cell transplantation nursing along with a commitment to continuous learning, teamwork and mutual support. Ability to manage conflicting demands on time working clinically and managing office responsibilities is essential.
In return we will offer you the opportunity to attend courses focusing on the speciality and leadership. These courses include the Acuity course, Fundamentals to Cancer Care, Leadership Masterclasses, Advanced Communication Course and many more. You will be supported in a supernumerary period where you will have the opportunity to shadow band 6 sisters and staff/bed bleep holder. An individually tailored training programme will be developed to support your learning needs. In addition, you will have regular 1:1’s with the senior sister.
C6 is accredited by Joint Accreditation Committee for Stem Cell Transplant (JACIE).
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
You will need to have considerable post registration experience with appropriate post qualification study within the field of cancer nursing. You will need to be able to demonstrate competency in intravenous therapy and chemotherapy administration.
You will need to demonstrate proven acute care skills and a thorough understanding of current acute health service issues. Proven professional development to degree level is desirable.
You will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to effectively manage change and be forward thinking. You should be keen to manage and develop the team, as well as eager to develop your own leadership skills. Evidence of your ability to create an effective learning environment is essential. You will need to be able to demonstrate excellent clinical skills and be able to mentor junior colleagues and students in their development.
