University of Oxford

vacanciesin.eu

Planned start date: April – June 2023 window

Somerville College and The Ethox Centre, University of Oxford, invites applications for two Annual Visiting Scholarships, established in 2021 to provide fully-funded opportunities to spend time researching at the University of Oxford. The Scholarships will support those from Black ethnic backgrounds, ordinarily resident in the UK, to develop their academic careers. Visiting Scholarships will be awarded each year to researchers with an interest in bioethics (including ethics focused research in related disciplines such as philosophy, history, sociology and anthropology). The Scholars will spend four weeks based at the Ethox Centre and Somerville College and will conduct research on a topic related to the research programmes at the Ethox Centre.

Each Scholarship includes four weeks’ accommodation at Somerville College, inclusive of all meals and a contribution of up to £2,000 to assist with travel and research costs. The Scholarships are intended to support emerging scholars who would not otherwise have the opportunity to spend time pursuing their research at Oxford. As such, they offer an association, rather than employment and there is no salary associated with the posts.
