Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) is seeking a Band 7 Specialist Dietitian to join our Eating Disorder Pathway. This role offers an opportunity to provide expert dietetic care to children and young people experiencing eating disorders, including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, and Atypical Eating Disorders.As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to comprehensive assessments, develop individualised nutritional care plans, and support the recovery journey of our patients. Your expertise will be vital in delivering evidence-based interventions and collaborating with mental health professionals, paediatricians, and psychiatrists to ensure holistic care.Please note that this role is Band 7 subject to Job Evaluation.Main duties of the job

  • Conduct specialist dietetic assessments for young people with eating disorders.
  • Develop and implement individualised nutritional care plans.
  • Provide expert advice and consultation to colleagues, families, and other professionals.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to coordinate comprehensive care.
  • Contribute to service development, research, and clinical audits.
  • Offer clinical supervision and support to junior colleagues or trainees as appropriate.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to maintain and enhance clinical skills.

  • Experience of working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers, including using goal-based care and routine outcome measures in practice.
  • Experience of working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team and across agencies
  • Experience of working with children and young peoples mental health needs, families and parents/carers, maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems and verbal abuse
  • Experience of undertaking specialist mental health assessment and therapeutic interventions for in the area of childrens mental health, with the ability to work with complex needs and undertake risk assessments

QualificationsEssential

  • Professional knowledge acquired through degree supplemented by specialist training or equivalent experience to Masters level with a relevant core dietetics professional qualification.
  • Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or equivalent leading to registration with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registration as a Dietitian
  • Training in an evidence-based therapeutic approach

Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesEssential

  • Understanding of relevant legislation pertaining to child mental health.
  • High level knowledge of mental health presentations in and children/young people and knowledge of the theory and practice of short term and long term, evidence-based, clinical interventions in the field of child mental health.
  • Extensive dietetic knowledge covering a broad background of dietetic practices e.g. diabetes, obesity, gastroenterology, paediatrics
  • Specialist skill in the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing complex highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the Service.
  • An Enhanced DBS Check will be required for this role.
  • Ability to travel across Devon
