Occupational Therapist – Intermediate Care ServiceSALARY SCALE – BAND 5Proposed interview date will be 23rd AprilBand 5 candidates must have post-graduate experience and must be able to show experience within the NHS.HOURS WILL INCORPORATE A 7 DAY WORKING PATTERNThe successful candidate will be required to assess, treat and provide rehabilitation for patients within rehab beds or their own homes, including those with multiple pathologies and complex medical and social issues. The role also includes supporting hospital discharges and avoiding hospital admissions. We are an integrated service with social care and work closely with our social care colleaguesPLEASE NOTE, WE MAY CLOSE THIS VACANCY EARLY IF WE RECEIVE HIGH NUMBERS OF APPLICATIONS.Main duties of the jobTo provide an accomplished and high quality Occupational Therapy service for patients within the clinical speciality of Intermediate Care Services (ICS). This involves working with patients on various ICS pathways, supporting hospital discharges, preventing hospital admission and providing rehabilitation in patient’s homes. ICS is an integrated health and social care model, therefore, you will be working with a variety of health and social care professionals.To perform Occupational Therapy assessment of patients with a variety of presentations, and to provide delivery of individualised treatment programmes to maximise their quality of life.To be responsible for a defined patient caseload, working at times without direct supervision. Supervision takes the form of advice and support from senior clinicians within the service, training, review of cases and peer review.To undertake, with guidance, all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.About usWalsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 286,700, providing inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and the continued upgrading of existing areas ensures the Trust now has a state-of-the-art Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit facilities. Work is also well underway on its multi-million pound new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre which will house a new Emergency Department (including Children’s Emergency Department), co-located Paediatric Assessment Unit, Acute Medical Unit and Urgent Care Centre.
