We are looking for a Genomics Senior Content Specialist to join our Systems Biology team in Barcelona.This is an amazing opportunity to work on MetaBase database supporting several products and services across Clarivate.We have a great skill set in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, toxicology, and pharmacology, with complementary skill sets to address challenges in biomarker discovery, target identification, drug repositioning, and network biology.We would love to speak with you if you have skills in genomics, pathology, molecular biology, and systems biology.About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments

• PhD and/or post-graduate laboratory research experience in Genomics/Biology/Biotechnology/Medicine or related Biomedical Sciences.
• Strong background in cellular biology and genomics, with basic knowledge of human pathology.
• +5 years of experience of relevant experience
• Good scientific research and analytical skills, with attention to detail. High ability to interpret and explain large amounts of data.
• General computer proficiency (MS Office) and ability to quickly learn new software tools.
• Proficient in English. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

It would be great if you also had . . .

• Experience with biomarker identification and human pathology.
• Experience in databases and relationship models.
• Fluency in SQL, R and/or Python.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team of diverse collaborators.

What will you be doing in this role?

• Deep analysis of the scientific literature to define the pathology of human diseases, especially related to gene/gene variants – disease relations and biomarker (genomic, proteomic, and endogenous metabolites) identification for pathological processes
• Responsible for supporting automated workflows and identifying improvement opportunities across different Systems Biology processes, particularly Biomarkers content set.
• Create/maintain/update SQL queries to identify and automatically correct database errors based on Editorial policies.
• Use scientific expertise to verify the work of colleagues and external contributors for accuracy and completeness and ensure that the information is properly presented and organized in our Systems Biology database.
• Act as a Genomics expert within the department and guide colleagues on interpreting scientific literature and other sources of scientific information.
• Maintain and develop scientific knowledge and skills training as required to complete work and stay current on scientific trends and developments related to the employee’s editorial responsibilities.
• Take initiative by raising, discussing, and resolving subject matter and production issues.

About the Team

• You’ll be reporting to the Systems Biology Team Manager based in Barcelona.
• We are a global, high-performing synergistic team of 15 members, across Spain and India (Chennai and Hyderabad), including content analysts, senior content analysts, content specialists, and senior content specialists making up the Systems Biology team.
• Our flagship database is MetaBase, which further powers other Clarivate products and data services to help customers quickly and accurately analyze multi-omics data.

Hours of WorkThis is a permanent full-time position at 40 hours a week (35 hours during July and August).
