In line with the Scottish Government’s priorities in terms of workforce planning, the Institute’s graduates approximately 40% of the newly qualified teachers in Scotland. The Institute also works closely with key stakeholders nationally and internationally, and supports the Scottish Government’s agenda in relation to the development of teachers working with autistic and neurodiverse pupilsFollowing a philanthropic donation, the University is launching a new centre to support parents, teachers and employers who have autistic or neurodiverse family members, students, or employees. In keeping with our University values, the new Centre – CARES (Centre for Autism Research and Education @ Strathclyde) – will create sustainable and scalable projects and programmes, developed through our partnerships, which will increase awareness, acceptance and belonging, enhancing wellbeing and addressing the needs of those offering support, education/training and employment opportunities.
