Reports To: Director of Student Development Coaching
The Person
Are you passionate about working with international students to support them in their education? Are you skilled at coaching young adults to navigate and succeed in university life and education? Do you have a calling to help young adults identify who they are and who they want to become as independent adults and professionals?
The Opportunity
The Student Development Coach supports undergraduate students through their program. In this role, the Student Development Coach provides holistic guidance on students’ academic progress as well as the opportunities available during the program to build experience through on campus and off campus activities. As the student progresses through the program, the coach supports the student to reflect on learnings, skills, and experiences to help guide them towards their career goals. This process ultimately culminates in the final year when the student takes the next steps on the path to post graduate work (job search, post graduate internship) or to further graduate level education (post graduate degree).
The Student Development Coach role consists of three major parts. 50% of your time in the role will be allocated to actively coaching our students. This includes 1:1 and team coaching. Additionally, Student Development Coaches are expected to spend 25% of their time maintaining thorough records of coaching students, with the final 25% spent delivering workshops both as part of the academic curriculum and extracurricular activities.
The Student Development Coach is the main point of contact dedicated to supporting the student to maximize their learning and development during their time at Hult. In support of this goal, the coach will actively engage students in owning their personal and professional development while also helping the students to understand the program, adjust to life as student, adapt to another country and culture, and support them through interpersonal and team conflicts and challenges that may arise during the program.
The Student Development Coach is directly responsible for:
- Ensuring their students are thriving in the undergraduate program
- Supporting students to integrate to life as a student and to the program
- Helping students to identify their strengths and areas for development and guiding them on how to develop their skills
- Coaching students to identify and set goals based on personal development needs and future professional/career aspirations
- Collaborate with Hult’s Career teams to help support students in their career search, identifying key skills and strengths as a result of their studies
- Empowering students to build independence
- Identifying “at risk” students and connect the students to support resources within the Hult ecosystem
- Collaborate with Hult’s Wellbeing and Safeguarding teams to raise welfare concerns and support students holistically
- Create and maintain records of student meetings
- Collaborate with Hult’s Faculty to deliver a world-class classroom experience, both supporting and delivering classroom sessions
- Developing workshop materials and delivering group workshops
- Working alongside other campus team members to support extracurricular activities from Orientation to Graduation
- Supporting administraive duties across the campus as and when required
