Offer Description

A research engineer position for one year is available to join Maryse Lebrun’team at the Laboratory of Parasite Host Interactions in Montpellier (France). Maryse Lebrun’s laboratory studies the molecular mechanisms developed by Apicomplexa protozoan parasites such as Plasmodium (malaria) and Toxoplasma (Toxoplasmosis) to invade and develop inside their host. They have recently identified the first molecular players allowing the parasites to secrete proteins into the host cell, and this way participate to invasion and modulation of the host’s immune response. The applicant will contribute to the characterization of new players of the secretion machinery of Toxoplasma. He/She will define their localization using Expansion microscopy and will contribute to the functional characterization of  parasites mutants. You will join a highly interactive team of Post-Docs and PhD working hand-in-hand in this multidisciplinary study funded by an ERC Advanced Grant.

Applicants should have experience in molecular biology and cellular imaging. Motivation to work in a multidisciplinary team is essential.

Applications must include a cover letter with a brief statement of research experience, technical expertise and interests, a CV, a list of publications and contact details of two referees. They should be sent to: [email protected]

The appointment will be financed by an ERC Advanced Grant. The position is available from March 2024 for two years.

The candidate will be affiliated to UMR 5294, CNRS University of Montpellier, LPHI, in the team of Maryse Lebrun (https://lphi.umontpellier.fr/research-teams/cell-biology-of-apicomplexa… ).

The UMR 5294 is located on the campus of the University of Montpellier, which provides a state-of-the-art environment for biophysics, biochemistry, and imaging including EM, and also including biosafety level 2 flow cytometry and live imaging facilities.
