About the role 

The role will be based at Staffordshire University’s London campus, which was founded in 2019 and is a pioneering campus dedicated to educating the digital innovators of the future. It is the University’s first campus outside the Midlands and is located in the Here East Building in Stratford, East London. 

We are looking for a candidate who can help build our industry relationships in London, the UK and internationally. In addition to developing and delivering outstanding teaching and learning, you will have the exciting opportunity to contribute towards our ambitious research and enterprise strategy alongside a team of dedicated games professionals. You will get the opportunity to work with like-minded individuals who will support and encourage your career development. This will include mentorship, research support, and guidance towards achieving HEA fellowship if you do not already hold this. 

You will also help us grow our sector-leading and award-winning undergraduate and postgraduate provision, and engage with ongoing recruitment activities.

Main Responsibilities 

The main responsibilities of a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer are to:

  • Develop teaching material 
  • Teach and assess students 
  • Demonstrate techniques
  • Engage in CPD and maintain subject proficiency
  • Engage with recruitment and outreach activities
  • Participate in or contribute towards research or scholarship.
  • Liaise with industry partners
  • Contribute to community engagement, including schools and colleges
  • Supervise final-year projects, and help prepare students for their post-university careers. 

Successful applicants will have a show reel demonstrating an excellent understanding of the fundamental workflows involved in  creating, rigging, weighting and animating game assets for use in Game Engines and an excellent capacity for solving technical art and animation problems within Engine.

While a passion for games is essential, we are also keen to hear from candidates with an interest in the development of Serious Games, and non-entertainment applications of games technology.

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic colleagues with a demonstrable expertise in solving Technical Art and Animation challenges within Engine and delivering a range of software and workflows across a number of the following areas:

  • 3D Modelling
  • 3D Animation
  • Rigging, IK & Control Rigs
  • Bone Weighting
  • Animation Blueprints
  • Particle System
  • Texturing & PBR Materials
  • Digital Sculpting
