Job Purpose

The successful candidate will join CH&CO’s award winning sustainability team and be pivotal
to the success of CH&CO’s sustainability strategy. The role will assist in embedding
sustainability in the decision making across the company, enabling accountability and
supporting robust sustainability communication and marketing.

The role will work with internal business functions and suppliers to collect, clean and
manipulate accurate data for analysis. The role will monitor ESG performance and drive
improvements. The role will be responsible for using ESG data including carbon, biodiversity,
forest and water information to develop reporting, analysis, insights, and recommendations to
support strategic data driven decision-making across CH&CO in relation to the
sustainability strategy.

the environment.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • To deliver exceptional client and customer value with accurate and transparent data that
    support the marketing and communication of sustainability to drive action against
    sustainability targets and business growth
  • To collect, collate, clean, categorise and manipulate data to provide robust and accurate
    company sustainability reporting and analysis
  • To work with CH&Co’s head of reporting to deliver user friendly sustainability
    dashboards
  • To ensure CH&Co has robust data to meet reporting requirements including those of
    incoming EU and UK legislation
  • To provide support to the category managers in achieving CH&CO’s objectives,
    identifying knowledge gaps, providing training where necessary and monitoring market and
    industry trends and advise the business on future risks and opportunities.
  • Support CH&CO’s commitment to net zero carbon emissions and science-based targets by
    supporting the coordination, collection and analysis of Scope 1,2 and 3 data in relation to
    CH&CO’s purchasing and supply chain activities
  • Represent the Sustainability Team on the Data Privacy Committee, Chaired by the Group Legal
    Director.

Main Duties:

  • Collaborate with the sustainability team to deliver against goals and reporting
    requirements
  • Work with our procurement, IT, finance, people, operational teams and suppliers to collect
    data for sustainability reporting
  • Categorise and manipulate data sets to meet sustainability reporting requirements
  • Work with the Head of Reporting to produce accessible dashboards that enable easy analysis
    of sustainability data
  • Provide training materials to operators to ensure data is read, understood and communicated
    correctly
  • Create data efficiencies by streamlining, creating consistency and setting up APIs where
    necessary
  • Analyse mandatory and voluntary reporting requirements and certification frameworks and
    create streamlined reporting to meet their data needs
  • Demonstrate best practices and strive for improvement of data and reporting
  • Work with marketing and communications to produce attractive and dynamic reports that meet
    the marketing and communications needs of the organisation.

    • Supply chain data
    • Carbon data
    • Biodiversity data
    • Social data
    • Energy data
    • Operational data
  • To deliver contract and brand specific sustainability reporting
  • Complete quarterly performance reports for Group Executive committee
  • Collate data for the year end for the Annual Sustainability Report and Accounts
  • To conduct analysis and report on data maturity against key reporting frameworks,
    legislation and make recommendations to achieve best practice
  • Design and develop mechanisms for data collection
  • To convert and visualise data in accessible dashboards

Skills / Knowledge:

Required:

  • 2/3 years+ experience working with sustainability data, ideally within a food business
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of environmental legislation
  • Technical knowledge of food supply chain sustainability issues and best practice, as they
    are applied to a multinational business
  • A strong understanding of food systems and the role data has in shaping action that
    supports food security
  • Demonstrable passion for responsible sourcing and ethical trade coupled with strong
    commercial acumen
  • Ability to build strong relationships with and influence audiences both internally and
    externally
  • Project Management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High competency in Microsoft office especially PowerPoint and Excel

Desirable:

  • Experience of Scope 3 emission accounting and methodology.
  • Technical knowledge of environmental management and relevant standards, including the GHG
    Protocol, science-based targets, net zero strategies, plastic packaging and circular economy
    principles

Leadership & Management Responsibility

  • Effectively communicate with internal teams. Where required, communicate with the Business
    on the strategic direction and cascade into objectives and action plans.
  • Use appropriate behaviours and attributes to support team building and collaboration.
  • Take ownership of specific tasks/projects as directed by the Head of Sustainability and
    Sustainability Business Partner

Occasional Responsibilities

  • To attend training courses and attend CH&Co meetings when necessary
  • To attend and partake in monthly team meetings across UK and Ireland
  • Occasional travel across UK and Ireland
  • To identify and research training options to ensure that own professional knowledge is
    developed.
