Explore more on Cubic.com.Job Details:Job Summary:This role applies systems engineering processes and skills to apply systems thinking to complex technical ticketing projects from requirements inception through to delivery and beyond whilst also acknowledging technical, schedule and cost constraints. Working both together and as part of a wider team on small, medium and large projects across all fields of systems engineering, this role requires a great communicator backed up with a broad range of technical skills and knowledge across modern networking, embedded and cloud-based technologies.Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Requirements analysis, capture and decomposition on large integration projects. This will naturally involve customer engagement and workshops to provide and then manage compliancy status with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Responsibility in the analysis, architecture and design of cost-effective system solutions, to agreed timescales and budgets and to a high standard of engineering.
- Create, analyse and document solutions traceable to the customer, business and solution requirements in accordance with Cubic’s processes and systems engineering methodologies. This involves generating system architecture designs, functional designs, interfaces specifications, data requirements specifications, statements of work, impact assessments, integration and test strategies and any other relevant systems engineering artefacts.
- Participate in the integration, verification, validation, and qualification planning and associated definition activities.
- Assist in the generation of detailed Systems Engineering estimates and technical specifications such as the statement of work (SOW) for proposals and budgeting purposes.
- Provide input regarding systems engineering tasks to project planners and plans.
- Work collaboratively with other systems engineers, management and engineering disciplines to ensure project objectives are met.
- Participate in customer presentations.
- Participate in formal meetings with customers and subcontractors.
- Subcontractor technical oversight requires the candidate to occasionally work with Subcontractors to provide SOWs to technically guide them and also assess the work they deliver meets the requirements of Cubic.
- Keep up to date on the latest developments and tools in systems engineering, computers, microprocessors, communications systems and software techniques relevant to the company’s operation.
- Develop and promote quality engineering practices in the department and support Systems Engineering process improvement projects and promotion of quality engineering practices in the department.
- Travel domestically or internationally as required to meet the needs of any given project.

- In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by their manager from time-to-time, as may be reasonably required of them.
Minimum Job RequirementsEssential:
- Engineering Degree in relevant discipline or equivalent qualification or experience.
- Previous experience in a technical role on software or hardware-based integration projects.
- Demonstrate an understanding of:
- Systems engineering methodologies.
- Requirements analysis and decomposition preferably using a formal requirements management tool.
- System architecture or design documentation.
- Solution verification and validation.
- Stakeholder or customer management experience.
- Ability to create high quality documentation and presentation skills.
Desirable:
- Experience in ticketing and automated fare collection, or similar applications involving large networks of unattended/passenger-operated devices
- Experience of requirements management, ideally using the DOORS product.
- System definition and design.
- Software interfaces such as HTTP(S), JSON, REST, API, XML, MQTT, serial.
- Model based systems engineering (MBSE) system design using UML and Enterprise Architect or another structured methodology.
- Implementation and deployment knowledge from Windows and UNIX environments.
- Awareness of financial and regulatory practices within business.
- Experience with industry relevant standards – E.g. ISO 9001.
- INCOSE or another relevant engineering certification.
- ITIL certification.
- Relevant delivery methodologies such as SAFe, Scrum, DaD etc.
