We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) Technical Specialist to join our dynamic Faculty Technical Operations team, which strives to provide a sector leading technical support for our students and staff. The purpose of this role is to:

  • Be part of a team of Senior Technical Specialists and Technical Specialists responsible for the care, maintenance and operation of the SEMs, TEMs FIBs and associated analytical/preparation equipment across the EM Platform.
  • Offer specialised electron microscope training, advice in your area of expertise and, where appropriate, a bespoke service to users of the EM Suite. This will involve devising and implementing specific training strategies to improve response times and training throughput.
  • Ensure that the electron microscopes and specialty systems are fully operational and comply with the University’s Health and Safety standards
