A group leader position at the Finsen Laboratory, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen University Hospital is open for appointment as soon as possible. The position is available for applicants with either a medical or (life)science background.With this position the Finsen Laboratory, Rigshospitalet wishes to strengthen our position in translational cancer research, building on our joint affiliation with both the Rigshospitalet and University of Copenhagen.ABOUT THE DEPARTMENTThe Finsen Laboratory is a basic cancer research department at Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen University Hospital and currently houses six research groups. The Finsen Laboratory is also affiliated with the University of Copenhagen as part of the Biotech Research and Innovation Centre (BRIC).We are located in the Copenhagen Biocenter close to Rigshospitalet and academic institutions.Research functions and focus areas of the departmentThe Department covers aspects on how cancer initiates, how it is maintained, and how it metastasises. We have specific focus on the stem cell properties of cancer, the underlying genomics of tumours and on targeted drug-delivery. You can read about our research at and also on www.bric.ku.dkQualifications:Irrespective of academic background, applicants should have documented experience and competences in the field of laboratory based translational cancer research. Candidates with emphasis on solid cancers are preferred. We especially encourage early-stage researchers to apply. The successful candidate is expected to strengthen and expand the department’s research into the underlying mechanisms of cancers and/or the targeting of these diseases. Hence, it is essential that the applicant has a proven experience within these areas. Prior experience in working with clinical tissue and/or data is an advantage. The applicant is furthermore expected to establish a cutting-edge research program with clear translational potential and should also have demonstrated the ability to attract external funding to sustain such a program.We offer: * Tenure-track position with salary for applicant and 1 person (technician) as well as running costs (to be negotiated)

(medical doctors only)Recruitment processThe recruitment process will contain four evaluation steps: * After the expiry of the deadline for applications, the authorized recruitment manager will shortlist applicants for assessment on the advice of the Appointment Committee after an evaluation of the written application material. All applicants are then immediately notified whether their application has been passed for assessment.

  • Shortlisted applicants will then evaluated by an assessment committee in order to make an assessment of the applicant qualifications for the specific post.
  • Shortlisted applicants will then be invited for an online interview with the appointment committee. Finally, the appointment committee will invite selected candidates for an on-site visit and final evaluation.

Terms of employmentInitial appointment as a group leader is for 6 years.
