It is responsible for the scientific evaluation, supervision and safety monitoring of medicines in the EU.This traineeship opportunity is now open for applications until 6 May 2025 23:59 CET, with an intake on 1 October 2025.About the traineeship programmeThe Agency is looking for motivated, qualified recent graduates or students on an Erasmus+ or other programme or PhD students or Master’s students (who posses a previous degree), who are interested in gaining experience and contribute to the Agency’s work for every patient in Europe. The purpose of a traineeship at the Agency is to perform tasks that are predominantly in the interest of the trainee’s training and principally serve to increase the trainee’s knowledge and to gain relevant experience.Placement descriptionWe are looking for a trainee in the Information Management Division.Specific objectives and projectsThe trainee will work on a Proof of Concept (PoC) mini project, applying computer science methods, as well as working with IT delivery methods, in the context of IT systems in the agency that implement the European Union’s Clinical Trials Regulation.The Clinical Trials Regulation describes the legal framework for performing Clinical Trials in the EU. Examples of a potential PoC include:1) use of domain modelling languages and model to model transformation to transform data between databases,2) software development of a simple CRUD application on the cloud, in languages such as python, java, react, SQL, JSON in IDEs and as lambdas,3) implement healthcare RESTful technologies such as FHIR on the cloud, and install relevant products and components,4) use of generative AI and machine learning to analyse operational data,5) use of new tools to document IT and cloud architectures.Learning outcomesThe successful candidate is expected to learn during their traineeship:a) how to apply computer science principles in the healthcare regulation domainb) the challenges of delivering IT projects in an enterprise environment,c) data analysis and monitoring,d) use of AIe) communication, documentation, and presentation skills in an enterprise environment, andf) working in the context of traditional and serverless architectures.Eligibility criteriaTo be eligible for consideration for this placement, you are required to: * enjoy full rights as a citizen of a European Union Member State or Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway;
For criteria 1 and 2, you will be required to provide proof in the application form and at the interview stage. Failing to present these documents may result in the disqualification from the procedure.Additional skillsComfortable with programming, knowledge of software engineering practices, ability to proactively suggest solutions to problems, good writing and presentation skills. Placement start 1 October 2025Conditions of traineeshipThe traineeship is offered for 10 months (1 October 2025 – 31 July 2026) and takes place at the Agency’s premises in Amsterdam with possibility for teleworking up to 40% of working time from The Netherlands and occasional teleworking from outside The Netherlands.
