Full time role although part time hours would be considered for the right
candidate.

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council is looking for the right person who has an
interest in sustainability and the environment to become part of our waste management team.

BCP Council is the tenth largest urban local authority in England with 397,000 residents, with
15 million visitors to our globally recognised coastline and beaches each year. As a result we
manage 200,000 tonnes of waste per annum.

You will play an active role in a multi-skilled and motivated Strategic Waste team as we manage
and renew our contracts and waste infrastructure. You will help shape and implement our
strategy and policies as we meet our carbon reduction goals.

The role will require you to have an interest in the environment and wanting to be part of
future change in how we manage our waste. You will be involved in a wide range of duties from
contract management, recycling initiatives, data analysis, environmental strategy, policy
development and implementation, as well as supporting the in-house operation of Recycling
Centres, Transfer Stations and Commercial Waste business.

An essential part of your job will be to build strong relationships with senior officers,
external partners, internal colleagues and residents. You must be a confident communicator.

You will play an active role in the team in a supportive environment, and there will be plenty
of opportunities to develop your skills, progress your career and contribute to the direction
of the service as a whole.

The role offers a mixture of homeworking and utilising offices at the most convenient
location.

Whatever stage of your career, whether you are just starting out or if you have experience, we
welcome your application.

For an informal discussion please contact: David Rickards, Waste Disposal Manager on
01202 123809 ([email protected]) or Georgina
Fry, Waste Strategy & Resources Manager on 01202 126219 ([email protected])

As a result of the creation of BCP Council in 2019, we are working on simplifying our terms and
conditions of service and will be creating a single pay structure which is to be applicable for
all employees. It is important to us that we offer benefits that our colleagues value as part
of their total employment package and we are reviewing these to make sure we have it right. We
are in the process of establishing a timescale for implementation and colleagues joining us
will be included in these changes. Expected to be in place 2024.
