About the role
We’re hiring a Project Officer to join our Medicine Calling team! As Project Officer, you’ll be responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of the Medicine Calling Mental Health Recruitment Programme. This will include effectively delivering outreach events and initiatives to raise awareness of careers in Mental Health, working closely with colleagues to develop and publicise activities falling under the remit of Medicine Calling, and supporting activities that promote other related areas such as the Medicine Foundation Year.
About you
We are seeking a highly experienced Widening Participation professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a degree or equivalent, with significant experience working in the school’s education sector, Further Education or Higher Education. Knowledge of the UK education system and calendar, as well as Safeguarding, risk assessment and systems to support Safeguarding, are essential.
You should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with young people, parents, teachers, advisers, and academic and support colleagues in the University. The ability to manage a complex and varied workload, work under pressure and tight deadlines, and work on your own initiative is a must.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 because the appointee will have substantial access to young people and/or vulnerable adults. Therefore, an appointment to this post will be subject to checking and appropriate clearance through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The successful applicant for this post will, therefore, be required to give consent for the University to check with the DBS for the existence and content of any criminal record in the form of an Enhanced Disclosure. Information received from the DBS and the police will be kept in strict confidence and will be destroyed once the University is satisfied in this regard.
