Asylos is looking for an ambitious Operations Assistant based In the Netherlands, Spain or the UK with attention to detail and a passion for human rights and asylum.

The Operations Assistant will work closely with Asylos’ staff team in the Netherlands, Spain and the UK. Under the supervision of the Director, the new staff member will ensure that our front desk infrastructure operates smoothly and that the staff team has the tools and administrative support they require.

The main duties and responsibilities are:

  • Responding to external inquiries
  • Maintaining Asylos’ website, databases and archives
  • Meeting and event organisation
  • Developing content for external communications, including social media strategies and campaigns
  • Supporting with volunteer recruitment, onboarding and ongoing support for the Asylos volunteer network
  • Supporting with report publication and training logistics

This is a part-time (3.5 days/week) paid position, starting preferably on May 1, 2024 and lasting for two years initially (subject to renewal).

The position will be remunerated at 33,371 EUR gross annually pro rata if based in the Netherlands or Spain (including holiday allowance) or GBP 29,309 gross annually pro rata if based in the UK. The usual number of hours worked per week is 22.8, and an entitlement to 16 holidays per year applies.

We need you to:

  • Have a minimum of two years proven professional experience in an administrative role. Unpaid experience will also be considered under this requirement.
  • Have an excellent command of relevant office software. Being intimately familiar with Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, Slack, Trello, Zoom, Canva, Hootsuite, Calendly and Wordpress is particularly helpful.
  • Have strong social media skills ( managing media accounts, creating social media campaigns, digesting media statistics)
  • Work with excellent accuracy and strong attention to detail.
  • Be a confident and effective communicator.
  • Bring a passion for creating persuasive and compelling content.
  • Be enthusiastic about working in a small staff team, and passionate about helping to build and maintain the team spirit.
  • Have very good command of English. Knowledge of other languages is an asset.
  • Bring a passion for human rights, and ideally have an understanding of UK and international immigration and asylum law and policy.
  • Be committed to Asylos’ mission.
  • Have the right to reside and work in the UK, Spain or the Netherlands [Note: Asylos is unfortunately not in a position to sponsor people for work visas].

Further strong assets are:

  • An academic qualification in Administration or similar
  • Previous experience of working for a small non-profit or charitable organisation
  • Having lived experience of the asylum process
