The Belfast Region City Deal at Queen’s University Belfast is actively seeking a Professor of Practice specialising in clinical health data. Our aim is to pioneer a data-centric clinical research framework poised to revolutionise healthcare and enhance societal well-being over the long term.
This pivotal and strategic role entails spearheading the formulation and execution of our ambition to be the most mature health data ecosystem in the UK, which is the cornerstone of establishing a Centre of Excellence in clinical health data at Queen’s University Belfast. This role will leverage the strategic investments within the City and Growth Deals, seeking to work in partnership with the HSC/Department of Health to translate real world clinical data into tangible healthcare enhancements.
You will be an established clinical academic with a track record for implementing innovation through health data. You will have an extensive and active network of contacts spanning healthcare, academia and private sector, and demonstrable evidence of collaborative, co-designed approaches.
The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria:
- Relevant undergraduate degree.
- An acknowledged expert in health data and innovation, including experience as a clinical practitioner.
- A record of achievements that have influenced the development of digital health practices and relevance to the discipline which includes evidence of:
- Operational and Vision leadership.
- Building a successful and collaborative network of decision-makers across industry, health and academia.
- Driving innovation to address societal challenges.
- Evidenced strategic alignment across multiple organisations’ interests.
- Evidence of an ability to inspire, motivate and lead across all levels, multiple functions and beyond organisational boundaries.

The post is Part-time (0.8 FTE) and the successful candidate will be appointed for 3 years in the first instance with extension dependent on the postholder realising targets set out in the business plan and generating funds to sustain the post. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
