We are seeking an ambitious and talented individual to join the Department in a three-year fixed-term position to develop our research, teaching and knowledge exchange in early modern history. The post is to cover Professor Philip Withington while he takes up a Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship, and we are looking for candidates with research and teaching expertise that will enable them, in the first year, to deliver the Undergraduate Level 3 Special Subject ‘The World of Intoxicants in Early Modern England’, and to contribute to the teaching of other individually and team taught undergraduate and postgraduate modules. In subsequent years, the successful candidate will deliver a similar combination of early modern and core history teaching. We are also looking to support the candidate to develop their research and knowledge exchange profile.
The Department of History is one of the most active centres for historical research in the country, with a distinguished record of producing internationally outstanding and innovative work for a range of audiences. We have a reputation for high quality and innovative learning and teaching, delivered by staff who are both committed to providing an outstanding student experience and who are at the cutting edge of research in their own disciplines.
We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
