DIVISION PURPOSE: Pre-populated for each division.

TEAM PURPOSE: To build strong community awareness, active participation and ownership around solid waste management and recycling activities and reduce public health risks and environmental impact, contributing to a life with dignity for vulnerable people in Zaatari Camp.

JOB PURPOSE: The Community Engagement Volunteer will support project operation and provide the needed support for community Engagement team and implemented activities in UM Al Jmal Municipality .

The volunteer role will be around data collection, HH identifications, carry out awareness sessions, supporting community Engagement Officer and Assistant to conduct Community Engagement Activities in the assigned area.

Also, She/He will assist in facilitating group session, door to door visits, collecting project and community related data and information, and preparing reports where needed and requested by line manager.

DIMENSIONS OF THE ROLE

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

–          Collecting data related to the project regarding the activities, including a profile of the area, information about solid (inorganic/organic) waste management in the municipality, the number of residents and their nationalities…etc.

–          Assist in facilitating awareness sessions related to waste management, recycling, and changing community behavior for all segments of society at the association level, home visits, health centers, schools, etc., etc.

–          Assist in facilitating group and individual dialogue sessions with all segments of society, collecting the required information, preparing reports, and submitting them to the direct manager.

–          Collecting information, feedback, community opinions and ideas, and important matters concerning the community, as well as preparing the necessary reports on them on a daily basis and delivering them to the line manager.

–          Follow up on the community’s opinions about the services provided by Oxfam,

–          Representing Oxfam in the community by carrying out the necessary community activities and forming a link between the community and Oxfam.

–          Facilitating and participating in cleaning campaigns carried out by Oxfam in the operational area.

–          Data Entry on activities, dialogue sessions, and awareness sessions.

–          Any other tasks that may be requested by the team administrator.

–          Adherence to public safety instructions.

Experience, Knowledge & Competencies

Essentials

For this role, you will need to model Oxfam’s feminist leadership approach so we have selected the most relevant feminist leadership practices which we will use for assessment purposes (which you can read more about here):

·         Self-Awareness

In addition, an ideal candidate will also have:

–          University degree  and or any equivalent experience in Community mobilization, engagement, and/or outreach.

–          Previous experience in CE is preferred.

–          Basic computer knowledge / Knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, word).

–          Proved data collection experience – mandatory.

–          Resident of Mafraq governorate – candidates from Um El Jimal municipality will be given priority.

 

At interview, shortlisted candidates will also be assessed on our values and organisational attributes, as outlined above.

 

Desirable

·         Previous experience in data collection

·         Previous experience in Community Engagement, mobilization, outreach.

·         Resident of Um Al Ejmmal Municipality.
