Rivan Industries

Rivan Industries (Rivan.com) is a synthetic fuel company designed to decarbonise heavy
industry. We’ve developed a unique power-to-fuel machine built for low-capex deployment powered
entirely by utility-scale solar. Here’s our entire business plan. We
already have operating modules of our machine, we’re funded, and we’re now building out the
team to bring the vision together and deploy at scale.

We aim to make synthetic fuel cheaper than fossil fuels and sustain life on earth by keeping
the CO2 locked underground. We’re looking for a Solar project lead to take control of our
current planning applications and execute a planning application progress that enables us to
deploy GW’s of solar over the next 3-4 years. We don’t require a grid-connection and use DC
solar, so we can move much much quicker than any solar developer can. If you want to
work on a high-impact technology with real-world impact, surrounded by smart people working
with a sense of urgency and intensity – this is for you. For how that looks, here’s how we run the company

The role:

  • Manage current planning proposals already underway
  • Manage end-to-end planning applications
    • Build pipeline of projects and secure HOT’s
    • Conduct
desktop reviews with flood risks, ALC, & planning constraints
    • Manage sub-contractors for
all services such as ecological, archeological, visual impact, NIA, Glint & Glare,
      Topographic etc
    • Prepare, file, and manage planning application, including public consultation
      and LPA management
  • Help develop process for NCIP planning process

Core skills:

  • 5+ years professional experience
  • Proven history of managing end-to-end planning process and securing planning permission for
    utility-scale solar sites

The things that are important to us for this role:

  • Execution history. Where have you had complete responsibility before and made it happen
    with risk on your shoulders?
  • Reasoning by first principles. Our process is different to traditional solar in many ways,
we therefore will take a different, more pragmatic approach to our own planning progress. Don’t
    rely on what’s gone before!
  • Urgency. Planning permission is currently the bottleneck in our deployment. We need to
catch-up and overtake our production bottleneck, which will require 15+ sites to go into the
planning process within the next 6 months.
  • Grit. People don’t like “new”. Our process and design works, but are you up for the battle?

The things we don’t care about very much:

  • Where you went to school / education
  • Where you have worked previously

Specifics:

  • £70-80K Salary depending on experience
  • Significant share options as part of the early team
  • In-person work at our HQ near to Victoria Park, East London
  • Flexible time-off

Email CV and why you’re great for this role to [email protected]. Or, better yet, send over your
plan of how you’d manage to get 10-15 sites through planning that utilised only DC solar (no
inverter-load-ratio’s here…) in the next 12-24 months. No grid connections here.
