The Organisation

The Royal Parks (TRP) is a charity created in March 2017. We manage over 5,000 acres of diverse
parkland, rare habitats and historic buildings and monuments in eight Royal Parks across
London. These are Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, The Green Park, St James’s Park, The Regent’s
Park and Primrose Hill, Greenwich Park, Richmond Park and Bushy Park.

We also manage other important public spaces including Brompton Cemetery and Victoria Tower
Gardens. Our eight Royal Parks and other iconic green spaces are among the most visited
attractions in the UK with 77 million visits every year.

We are now looking for an Assistant Park Manager to join our team on a permanent, full-time
basis, working 36 hours per week.

The Role

As an Assistant Park Manager, you will support the management of St James’s Park, The Green
Park and Victoria Tower Gardens.

Leading a diverse portfolio of park operations and activities you will be involved in a range
of horticulture, arboriculture, learning, events and volunteering work.

Alongside a fellow Assistant Park Manager, you’ll manage the day-to-day aspects of the
Landscape Maintenance Contract and the delivery of a local project portfolio of improvement
works, ensuring we obtain the highest value from our delivery partners.

Supporting the delivery of our vision and strategy, you’ll reinforce a shared purpose for park
improvement and identify new and creative opportunities for enhancements.

Additionally, you will:

  • Assist the Park Manager to deliver efficient and effective operations
  • Guide the wider park team across their duties
  • Manage the Head Gardener
  • Liaise with other park contractors and concessionaires
  • Oversee new planting schemes and the Tree Strategy
  • Support the preparation of budgets and procurement decisions

About You

To be considered as an Assistant Park Manager, you will need:

  • Experience and a thorough working knowledge of landscape management, including horticulture,
    biodiversity, arboriculture and facilities
  • Experience of line managing direct reporting staff and building effective relationships
  • Experience of using landscape management software
  • A thorough working knowledge of Health and Safety principles and practices
  • Effective and confident interpersonal and communication skills
  • A relevant qualification, or equivalent, at degree level, such as Landscape Management or
    Horticulture, or equivalent experience
