Offer DescriptionFIELDS CONCERNEDAssistant/Associate professor will be hired at the at TSP, either in team or . We are seeking an outstanding candidate in the field of Computer Science, with the ability to showcase a research project of international caliber within the realm of theoretical computer science. The selected assistant professor will play a pivotal role in expanding the research boundaries of our laboratory, actively participating towards a strong collaboration with other teams from IP Paris computer science laboratories ( , , ).EXPECTED PROFILEIn the area of Theoretical Computer Science

  • Conduct high quality research, obtaining novel results and applying them to the case studies at SAMOVAR laboratory;
  • Lead a new group in the domain of theoretical computer science and collaborate with SAMOVAR members, in one of the areas of formal methods, logic and symbolic AI with potential applications to security, machine learning, software engineering, etc.
  • Participate to teaching in existing Computer Science and Software Engineering courses at TSP, as well as developing new ones, mostly at the graduate level.

1. Research1.1 Production and animation

  • Conduct collaborative and lead high quality research in the area of theoretical computer science and possibly in its various application domains. The candidate should integrate one of the Samovar’s teams working on these domains (ACMES or SCN) and collaborate with other teams from IP Paris computer science laboratories (LIX, LTCI, U2IS, etc.);
  • Develop a new research topic and/or reinforce existing ones to enhance the collaboration between the SAMOVAR’s members working on theoretical computer science;
  • (Co-) supervise graduate students, postdocs, research engineers;
  • Apply to high quality national and European project calls (ANR JCJC, ERC grants).

1.2 Research areasThe research areas may include one of these domains (the list is non exhaustive): formal methods, software engineering, security and safety, symbolic AI, etc. Samovar research teams associated with these research areas are indicated in the following:team:

  • Formal Methods and/or software engineering (Formal language theory, automata theory, and model-checking, Software testing, Correct design of algorithms and data structures, Software correctness and reliability)
  • Foundations of data and knowledge based systems (Formal logic underlying the design of data schemas and query languages, symbolic reasoning, deductive and inductive methods, logical representation, formal ontologies, reasoning under inconsistency and uncertainty, computational logic and propositional satisfiability, symbolic reasoning and model interpretation)

Team:

  • Cryptography (number-theory, curve-based, code-based), cybersecurity and coding theory, Formal verification of access control policies, Formal methods for software security including source level analysis and binary level analysis

2. Teaching– Design and/or provide courses and other teaching activities in area of computer science and software/system engineering;– Develop and propose new courses, mostly at the graduate level (Master of computer science), in the area of theoretical computer science and related application domains;RequirementsResearch Field Computer science Education Level PhD or equivalentSkills/QualificationsLEVEL OF EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREDPhD in the area of Computer Science or related field;ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Significant research experience in an internationally recognized academic or industrial laboratory of at least two years;
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Outstanding quality publications in flagstaff international conferences and journals;
  • Experience in (co-) supervision of graduate students;
  • International research experience would be highly appreciated;
  • Written and spoken French is highly appreciated.
