Wiltshire Wildlife Trust is a leading conservation charity in the UK and has an excellent
reputation for the development of ‘green prescriptions’, working to improve people’s wellbeing
through engagement with the natural environment. This work is the basis of our alternative
education provision and has proved successful and popular with a wide range of commissioners,
students and their carers. Accordingly, we are looking for an inspiring, knowledgeable,
committed and experienced Education & Wellbeing Officer at The Willows Care Farm near
Melksham.
Working alongside the Care Farms’ Manager, Assistant Managers and our experienced staff team,
the post holder will be responsible for leading the daily delivery of one-to-one nature-based
therapeutic activities for ‘Day 6 Provision’ children and young people with additional needs,
mental health, social and communication difficulties, and those in need of emotional support.
Experience of working one-to-one with children and young people with additional needs is
essential, as is an understanding of person-centred practice and the use of nature, animals and
creativity to support the holistic education of the children and young people with whom we
work.
Day 6 Provision: Wiltshire Council must arrange suitable full-time education for any primary or
secondary aged pupil to begin from the sixth school day after the first day of a permanent
exclusion. This role addresses that need in that we will offer a bespoke Alternative Provision
package for up to five half day sessions per week for a primary child or secondary young person
who has been permanently excluded.
Wiltshire Wildlife Trust is fully committed to safeguarding the welfare of all children, young
people and adults at risk. All WWT staff will receive safeguarding training and must ensure
that they comply with WWT’s safeguarding policy.
Wiltshire Wildlife Trust is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to developing an
inclusive and diverse organisation, in which everyone feels supported, valued, and able to be
their full selves. To achieve our vision of creating a world richer in nature, we need talented
people, and more diverse people, on nature’s side. Wiltshire Wildlife Trust is an exemplary
employer with high staff satisfaction and multiple benefits for employees. These benefits
include:
- Employer pension contribution up to 7.5%
- Group risk insurance – death in service and income protection
- 25 days annual leave plus public holidays (pro-rata)
- Staff discount at Dragonfly Cafe
- Free tea and coffee
- On-site parking
- Cycle to Work Scheme
- Training and development opportunities
- Confidential Employee Assistance Programme (available 24/7, 365 days a year)
- Two staff wellbeing days per annum
