Company:
University of Manchester
Job description
We seek a highly motivated postdoctoral molecular life scientist researcher to study the localisation of mRNAs to specific sites of active translation or translation factories. The position will involve the use of a wide-range of molecular and cell biological approaches including recombinant DNA technology, fluorescent microscopy and proteomic techniques to assess the protein factors involved in mRNA localisation. The project will make use of fluorescent particle sorting to isolate mRNAs within translation factories. Then proteomics will be used with aview to identifying proteins enriched at these sites. As a result, the project will require combined wet-lab work and experience in computational analysis of proteomic data. The project will use the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae as an experimental model relevant to all eukaryotic systems.Applicants should have a PhD (or equivalent) in a biological science and a strong background in molecular biology and computational analyses as detailed in the further particulars.
