Job title:
Post-doctorate (M/F) Biobased polymers for photovoltaics
Company:
Job description
Offer DescriptionThe project aims at developing novel efficient encapsulation materials from bio-based resources to reduce the environmental impact of the different Photovoltaic (PV) technologies. With a combination of polymers derived from the biomass and of inorganic dense layers from abundant resources, we aim at fabricating encapsulation films with high gas barrier properties. These novel encapsulation materials will be integrated in different types of PV flexible modules (c-Si, OPV, perovskite and CIGS) which lifetime will be deeply studied and analysed.o Conduct transesterification of cellulose with vegetable oil in a homogeneous phase to produce sustainable materials.
o Investigate and diversify the types of grafts onto the cellulose backbone to meet specifications for encapsulants.
o Investigate the potential of furane dicarboxylate polyesters (PEF or PBF)
o Prepare transparent films through various processes and assess their mechanical and optical properties.
o Explore the incorporation of additives (inorganic or organic fillers) into the polymer formulation to enhance barrier characteristics and UV protection.
o Further analyze and refine the mechanical properties of the transparent films, focusing on elastic modulus, elongation at break, and maximum stress.
o Scale up the production processes to evaluate the feasibility of large-scale manufacturing while optimizing the material properties. The postdoctoral position takes place within the framework of the ANR BioFlexPV project (2024-2028) linked to PEPR TASE and is hosted at the Laboratory of Organic Polymer Chemistry (LCPO, UMR 5629 CNRS-University of Bordeaux-Bordeaux INP) within Team 2 “Biopolymers and Bio-based Polymers” in collaboration with Team 4 “Polymers for Electronics, Energy, and Information.” All infrastructure and expertise of the LCPO in terms of polymer function(s) engineering will be made available.RequirementsResearch Field Chemistry Education Level PhD or equivalentResearch Field Physics Education Level PhD or equivalentResearch Field Physics Education Level PhD or equivalentLanguages FRENCH Level BasicResearch Field Chemistry » Physical chemistry Years of Research Experience NoneResearch Field Physics » Chemical physics Years of Research Experience NoneResearch Field Physics » Biophysics Years of Research Experience NoneAdditional InformationEligibility criteriaApplicants (M/F) should hold a PhD in Polymer Chemistry with solid expertise in techniques from the synthesis to the characterization.
