Job descriptionKing’s Foundations provides year-round and summer programmes to international students who aim to progress onto King’s College London Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes. There are various Professional Services teams who work closely with teaching staff across the portfolio of programmes to provide administrative support including the Programmes, Student Experience, Quality Assurance, Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) and Business Support teams.The Programmes Officer (Academic Skills) works alongside the other members of the Programmes team to support the Academic Skills provision, providing front-line support to students and academic staff in a seamless and effective manner. They are responsible for essential work supporting the delivery of the General and Integrated Academic Skills provision (including timetabled classes, 1-2-1 appointments and workshops), helping to ensure that these run efficiently and effectively.The Programmes Officer (Academic Skills) should have strong communication skills, a proactive approach and a keen eye for accuracy and detail in order to deliver an excellent student and staff experience.The role is primarily based at Bush House on the King’s Strand Campus, although you may be required to travel to other campuses on occasion. King’s College London operate a hybrid working programme with a minimum of 40-60% time spent on campus. Additionally, there are periods which will be difficult to take leave throughout the year although we have procedures that aim to allow staff to take leave on a fair basis.This post will be offered on an indefinite contract. This is a full-time post (35 hours)- 100% full time equivalent.Key responsibilities

  • Provide front-line support to students and staff through the Academic Skills inbox. Ensure enquiries related to the General and Integrated Academic Skills provision are responded to as appropriate within agreed timeframes, taking responsibility for responding directly to more complex enquiries and escalating to the Academic Skills Coordinator/tutors/line manager when required.
  • Support the timetabling, teaching, attendance monitoring and online (website and VLE) provision for the Academic Skills support and teaching. To use systems and databases accordingly, and in accordance with best practice.
  • Ensure consistency of service and data, identifying and resolving issues according to changing priorities.
  • Actively participate in the development and improvement of processes to support students and academic staff, by identifying and suggesting service improvements based on stakeholder feedback.
  • Take personal accountability for the data quality of student records, ensuring records are accurately maintained in accordance with the agreed retention schedules.
  • Work flexibly as part of a team, supporting others in times of high-volume activity, supporting the training and development of new staff members.
  • Take responsibility for own performance and development, through agreeing clear performance objectives, maintaining up-to-date knowledge, and reflecting on own performance.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in a professional and timely manner, with appropriate confidentiality and sensitivity. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the data protection requirements and to support Freedom of information and subject access requests.
  • To provide support to the Programmes Team in the provision of Reception cover, and administrative support to the other KF programmes when it is needed.
  • Carry out other reasonable responsibilities commensurate with the grading of the post as required.
