Job Description Summary As a technical expert in the field of turbine aerodynamics, the Advanced Lead Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager for Turbine Aerodynamics and will be responsible for leading design, analysis and validation activities for new products introduction and technology maturation programs for military and commercial applications.In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, contribute in managing complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.Job DescriptionEssential ResponsibilitiesLead aerodynamic design, testing and analysis of novel low-pressure turbines and turbine framesCoordinate aero design with other technical disciplinesContribute to technical reviews, support design best practices interfacing with the global engineering team.Technical leadership of complex projects involving external funding with multiple stakeholders. Prioritize activities to deliver program objectives on time, while meeting cost and quality requirements.Plan, prepare and lead external funding proposals (national and EU) to advance the state of the art of aerodynamic turbine technology.Participate in problem solving and innovation initiatives.Identify improvement opportunities and apply Lean tools to remove waste.Demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectivesQualifications/RequirementsMaster’s Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent degree)Sound academic/industrial experience in the field of turbomachinery aerodynamics.Good understanding of the physics and principles associated with turbine aerodynamic design.Hands-on experience in computational fluid dynamics modeling, design optimization, digital and data analytics.Demonstrated ability to advance the technology state of the art and ability to generate innovative solutions.Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers.Self-directed, highly motivated, able to manage work-load across several activities.Fluency in English.Work Visa, in accordance with local regulation, is required.Desired CharacteristicsPhD in AerodynamicsExperience in scale and full-scale testing, including test planning, instrumentation, test conduct and data analysis.Strong understanding of Lean and Six-Sigma principles.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships.Quick leaner, flexible attitude, able to self-manage work-load across several activities.
