We are currently seeking a ‘Conservation Officer’ who will be an integral part
in driving our work forward. We believe that our people are our greatest asset and look to

The Conservation Officer will be part of the FCCT Conservation and Engagement (C&E) team and will
conduct conservation and community engagement activities to further the aims and objectives of
the FCCT conservation agenda and Fife Biodiversity Action Plan. The postholder will work
closely with other partner agencies including Fife Council and other third sector organisations
and will be focused on time bound conservation projects with specified outcomes.

Essential characteristics (including but not limited to):

  • Educated to SQF level 8, which includes a Higher National Diploma or above in a relevant
    subject
  • Knowledge of national and international environmental and conservation agendas
  • Training in, and practical experience of, ecological survey data gathering techniques.
  • Experience working with school/community groups and with diverse groups from varied
    backgrounds.
  • Project management experience within conservation and community engagement.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering projects on time and to a budget.
  • Experience of delivering projects with a wide range of stakeholder groups.
  • Diplomatic and flexible.
  • Good understanding of the Scottish Biodiversity Strategy and how this relates to the
    regional context.
  • Flexible mindset, able to be self-critical.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with a friendly, approachable style.
  • Confident leading large (20+) groups with experience of managing and working with
    volunteers.
  • Clear grasp of the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
  • Able to understand their role within the broader organisational and conservation context.
  • Proven team player who can put the common interest before themselves.

This post is a full-time (36 hours per week) permanent post with an annual salary from £28,251
– £31,179. Work will typically be delivered over a five-day week but may include some evening
and weekend work as required.
