Call NANO AR 20-2024 PI Development of nano micro engineered devices for applications in peripheral nervous system pathological models

Company:

Job description

Offer DescriptionThe ENGInerve project aims to develop and validate biomimetic and active nano micro engineered devices, to allow the characteristic polarized growth of peripheral neurons in a soft
environment and to stimulate them with sensory-like mechanical stimuli. The devices will combine a modulation of nano/micro-topographical cues, mechanical properties, biochemical cues, and active electro-mechanical stimuli. We aim to develop and tune our devices: as platforms to study in vitro the behavior of peripheral neurons from a neurodevelopmental disorder at the molecular level: we will investigate the peripheral neurons’
functioning in Angelman Syndrome, to identify eventual alterations underlying the AS behavioral and somatosensory dysfunctions; as scaffolds for repairing injured peripheral nerves and stimulating their intrinsic regenerative capability.RequirementsAdditional InformationEligibility criteriaMaster degree in Biology, Chemistry and pharmaceutical technologies, Biotechnology, Material Science, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology or similar topics; PhD in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biophysics, Nanoscience, Translational medicine, Biomedical Engineering, Biology, Neuroscience, or similar topics; at least 2 years of post-doctoral experience documented with publications. Experience in at least some activities/topics: Expertise in set up and culture of neuronal cell lines and primary murine neurons; cellular assays; experience in mechanobiology, expertise in neurodevelopmental pathological models, in Angelman Syndrome – Experience in preparation, processing and analysis of cells, Expertise in molecular biology and biochemistry, Confocal microscopy on live and fixed cell samples – Expertise in the development and use of advanced devices for cell culture: devices based on acoustic waves, soft lithography, solvent casting; English and some knowledge of ItalianEligible destination country/ies for fellows:
