Job Title: Senior (or Consulant) Transport ModellerLocation: Remote with flexible working arrangements, all UK based locations considered. Our flexible office collaboration spaces, for those wishing to use them, are in London, Exeter, and Bristol, with a future potential to emerge in other UK locations.Term/Hours: Permanent. 24-40 hours per week, with flexibility over working pattern – please state in your application.Salary: Competitive, dependent on knowledge, experience and skillsGrade: SeniorDue to a healthy pipeline of projects and opportunities, we are seeking an experienced Senior Transport Analyst or Transport Modeller to join our team.We aim to provide extensive flexibility, enjoyment and fulfilment to our roles, to support the growth of our team members and organisation.We are looking for innovative, forward thinkers with working experience in data analysis and/or modelling in the transport planning or modelling space. Our team develops evidence-based insights to help decision-making and support decarbonisation of places. This includes developing bespoke tools, producing data-led transport strategies and solving difficult transport problems using our expertise across software solutions, data analysis, mapping, forecasting, and modelling. Our team is also developing large-scale strategic transport models and working alongside our software development team to automate their development, to realign the transport modelling industry.Many Thanks,

- Transport Modelling (e.g. Strategic, freight, micro-simulation and active travel modelling)
- Sustainable Transport (e.g. Local cycle & walking infrastructure plans (LCWIPs), bus service planning and movement strategies)
- Net Zero Development (e.g. Transport evidence bases for Local Plans and infrastructure strategies)
- Net Zero Transport (e.g. Electric Vehicle charging strategies and net zero transport pathways)

We are seeking a unique individual – fluent and experienced in practical transport modelling techniques and sharing our passion for data, technology, IoT and mathematics. The successful candidate will source and lead client assignments, whilst working closely with the transport data science and development teams to automate process and design new insights and methodologies.An expert in your own right, you will also be at ease working collaboratively with team members including data scientists, energy consultants and software developers. You will help shape the journey in a non-hierarchical environment where you have the platform to directly impact direction, quality, success and perception in the marketplace.Key responsibilities include:
- Managing, technically overseeing and providing quality assurance for data analysis tasks and technical deliverables (such as reports or tools) across a range of transport projects
- Providing and delivering on solutions to difficult transport problems, finding answers for our clients
- Project management (delivering small- and medium-sized projects to quality standards, on time and within budget)
- Providing clear, strategic advice based on data and technical expertise, including GIS analysis
- Producing high quality reports for clients, including technical and financial proposals
- Client outreach, including direct, at conferences and on webinars
About youYou’re proactive, enthusiastic with the ability to focus on the detail, without losing sight of the bigger picture. You’ll be able to work under pressure, to tight deadlines and be able to adapt in response to a fluctuating workload. Overall, you’ll be committed to the success of the project, and a great team player.Essential Requirements:
- At least two years of experience delivering data analysis and/or modelling post-graduation
- Degree/higher level qualification ideally in Transport Planning, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Operational Research or similar
- Highly committed to accuracy and rigor which can be applied to and support the development of our quality assurance processes
- Interest and at least some experience in independently formulating solutions and approaches to difficult problems
- Experience using geospatial mapping software
- Experience building bespoke tools (e.g. in Excel, Python)
- Ability to write high quality (at least technical) reports
- Working and delivering at pace
Desirable Requirements:
- Demonstrable experience of achieving impact with results
- Experience in task delegation and/or project management
- Experience in transport modelling (either conventional or bespoke transport modelling, such as active travel or freight) and forecasting of travel demand/supply
- Excellent understanding of statistics (e.g. through PhD or Chartership)
- Commercial experience of identifying, bidding and winning tenders and clients together with working to revenue targets
- Comfortable presenting to large audiences
- Membership of a chartered professional institution (e.g. CIHT)
Bonuses:
- Knowledge and experience in data analysis packages (e.g. SPSS, R or Python would be advantageous)
- An interest in software and the application of software development best-practice
- Experience in using strategic transport modelling software packages (e.g. Visum, SATURN, EMME)
- Familiarity with key transport guidance documents (e.g. TAG)
Business Requirements:
- Good appreciation of project risk issues and application of these to day-to-day tasks
- Knowledge of project budgetary issues and the capability to deliver work to time and budget
- Self-motivation and capability to undertake specific tasks with minimum supervision
- The ability to manage larger tasks or small/medium sized projects and proposals, including client contact and liaison
- The ability to communicate technical and management aspects of work
