2 Year Fixed Term Contract/Secondment Opportunity until end of May 2026.

Hackney Council is looking for a Recycling Project Support Assistant to support the development
and delivery of an exciting recycling initiative. This role supports a series of trials
designed to make our housing estates cleaner and greener. The roles play an important part in
our mission to reduce the environmental impact of waste in Hackney and support the success of
our Climate Action Plan, therefore we are looking for an individual who is passionate about
sustainability and driven to deliver measurable improvements to services.

As a Recycling Project Support Assistant, you will have a brilliant opportunity to gain
experience in a cutting-edge programme. Day to day, you will spend part of your time working on
administrative tasks and assisting the project support officer, and the other part of your time
out of the office visiting estates across the borough. You will liaise with tenants,
contractors, and managers to implement and monitor the programme. You should be able to engage
a variety of people and build good working relationships with our diverse communities. Your
role will involve frequent site visits to take pictures and monitor work being done on multiple
estates across the borough. Additionally, you will assist in identifying potential future

This job would suit someone with a background in recycling or estate management or someone with
good organisational skills ready to expand their knowledge in recycling and project delivery.
You will gain experience in project work and a spectrum of other skills including communicating
with stakeholders and time management. To thrive in this role, you will need a flexible
approach and be willing to go the extra mile to get the job done. You should have experience
using a variety of IT packages. A driving licence would be useful.

Our recycling service has a reputation for innovation, and the approaches we are now trialling
are unique to Hackney. Having won many awards over the years, we must continually strive to
find new ways to push recycling rates higher and improve our service.
