Countryside Management Traineeship

the country, our countryside access work enables people to explore these landscapes and our
design & build work creates brand new spaces for wildlife and people.

We’re opening up for applications to our Countryside Management Traineeship placements for the
winter season of habitat management works. If you’re motivated to gain practical industry

Role purpose

The primary purpose of the role will be to assist with the practical delivery of countryside
and ecology contracting work, primarily chainsaw work to maintain biodiversity conservation
sites. During the traineeship placement there will be opportunity to become involved in other
types of work that may include:

  • Countryside infrastructure/access projects; boardwalks, footbridges, pond dipping
    platforms, paths, agricultural drainage & water supply, river bank stabilisation, fencing.
  • Habitat creation and management; small tree felling and scrub management, planting &
    seeding, pond creation and improvements, control of non-native plant species/herbicide
    application, hibernacula creation, installation of bird and bat boxes.
  • Installation of bespoke landscape installations designed by our in-house team, for example
    biodiversity and educational projects in visitor centres.

This role will be ideal for someone with some training in landscape- or countryside-based work
with chainsaw qualifications looking to develop further in the countryside and ecology area of
the landscape sector. Full in-house training will be provided.
