The Global Head of Strategy and NPP:
-
drives the strategy agenda for General Medicines to secure and maximize long-term value creation.
-
builds an industry leading product portfolio in dedicated disease areas and ensures that the early-stage pipeline of General Medicines provides best strategic value to Sanofi.
-
plays a key cross functional/divisional/BU catalyst and orchestration role.
-
builds and leads a high performing team of 5 Direct Reports
Main responsibilities:
Drive the strategy agenda for General Medicines to secure and maximize long-term value creation:
-
Lead the development of the strategic vision for General Medicines – aligned with the overall Sanofi strategy – in collaboration with the General Medicines Executive Leadership Team (ELT). Translate the vision into annual key strategic focus areas with the aim to maximize long-term value creation.

Drive the implementation of the defined key General Medicines strategic initiatives, partnering with Corporate Strategy and connecting across transversal functions. Drive the associated OKR process.

Constantly challenge the status quo and drive continuous prioritization focusing on the key strategic priorities that will deliver the best outcomes.

Provide strategy expertise to the General Medicines ELT and cross-functional teams to support data-based decision making but also to mature analytic and strategic thinking.

Bring an external perspective into decisions, analyze the healthcare environment trends, market and competitors’ information and share implications for strategy & execution.
Build an industry leading product portfolio and ensure the early-stage pipeline of General Medicines provides best strategic value to Sanofi:

Perform comprehensive commercial assessments of potential innovations developed either organically within Sanofi or externally, hand in hand with R&D and key functions, with a strategic focus on disease areas relevant for General Medicines. Drive the evolution of General Medicines towards a specialty-like, immunology-driven BU.

Lead strategic exercises in close collaboration with key functions, i.e. the annual “Portfolio Strategy Review”, to inform the overall General Medicines and Sanofi pipeline strategy.

Drive and execute the portfolio strategy and support prioritization and go/no go decisions.

Steer strategic exercises and drive the development of business cases to assess potential new assets in collaboration with BD&L, M&A and all relevant key functions.

Communicate these assessments to top management with aligned recommendations.

Drive decision process to take smart and best-informed bets with the information at hand.
Play a key cross functional/divisional/BU catalyst and orchestration role.

Drive collaboration and alignment with key functions across the organization (i.e. R&D, BD&L; Market Access; Medical Affairs, key markets; etc.)

Enable decision making at appropriate level and contribute to key Sanofi processes as standing member of boards and committees.

Seek diverse views to challenge thinking (PTW behaviors)
About you
-
At least 10 to 15 years of experience in the Healthcare Industry with proven track record in strategic and operational capacities. Consultancy experience preferred.

A robust combination of profound scientific background as well as business & marketing/commercial experience.
-
Solid understanding and experience of development processes, pre-launch, and commercialization (including market access) of medicines.
-
Ability to lead high-value transversal projects and to effectively communicate to Senior Management.
-
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, business skills; strategic thinker, able to see the bigger picture beyond the detail and “join the dots”.

Ability to articulate a long-term vision and work towards delivering it.
-
Inspiring and empowering leader, builder of high performing teams. Strong leadership demonstrated in both directly managing teams but also leading transversal teams without direct line authority. Ability to effectively lead within a matrix. Strong communication, writing and presentation skills. Fluent in English.
