If you have experience of habitat creation, working with local communities and of delivering
change for nature on the ground – matched by a natural enthusiasm for engaging and inspiring
people from a diverse range of backgrounds – we would love to hear from you.

The Leeds Wild Spaces Project Officer will coordinate delivery of a new project to create Wild
Spaces within publicly accessible urban settings in Leeds, running public events and training
for local communities. This role will inspire and support local people to learn about and take
action to help butterflies and moths. The Project Officer will also work closely with Leeds
City Council to oversee creation of 8 new areas of wildflower meadow and train volunteers to
look after them beyond the duration of the project.

Wild Spaces is Butterfly Conservation’s flagship engagement programme. It provides a simple and
easy way for everyone to get involved and make a difference to help butterflies and moths.

Wild Spaces are all around us. They are the flowers in our window boxes, the pots on our
patios, the patches of weeds in our gardens or allotments, and the wildflower meadows in our
churchyards and parks. They provide space for nature to thrive and places for people to access
and enjoy.

If you are excited about the prospect of working for a leading wildlife charity and you have a
passion for nature, the ability to engage and inspire others and experience in managing and
working with volunteers we look forward to hearing from you. Please read through the job
description and person specification, to see if you have the right skills to join the team.

Butterfly Conservation is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from people
from the widest possible diversity of backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. We are dedicated
to encouraging a supportive and inclusive culture. Please tell us if there are any reasonable
adjustments, we can make to help you in your application or with our recruitment process.

The successful candidate will be required to apply for an enhanced DBS certificate in support
of this work and details will be provided to them within the offer of employment.

Candidates must have the right to work and be resident in the UK.

Please note that we do not support work visas for overseas applicants.

Closing date: Midday Friday 09 August 2024
Interviews: will take place via Zoom on Wednesday 21 August 2024

We believe our work has never been more important.

Wildlife is in steep decline across the UK and over three-quarters of butterflies and
two-thirds of moths are declining. We recognise it needs a great team with a wide variety of
skills to tackle the problems facing butterflies, moths and the environment.

Our staff and volunteers are proud to be part of Butterfly Conservation and are dedicated to
making a difference to the environment we live in. We understand the importance of maintaining
and expanding our expert and valued team of people and offer a range of roles located all over
the UK, from the peat bogs in Scotland to the post room in Dorset.
