Job Description
About The Role:
- Act as the key consultant for fabric-related inquiries for all fabric related to the Creative Director capsules.
- Collaborate with Creative Director and Paris atelier to develop and source seasonal fabrics aligning with brand essence and collection aesthetics, ensuring timely commercialization.
- Drive the fabric development process from concept to commercialization, ensuring alignment with design, quality, and production standards.
- Oversee sampling and prototyping processes for accurate product representation in collaboration with Product development team.
- Maintain and cultivate strong relationships between cross-functional teams in Paris + Toronto, finished goods vendors, and Fabric suppliers for timely material deliveries.
- Manage color development and lab dip approvals.
- Evaluate internal and 3rd party test reports to ensure performance and durability criteria to evaluate risk.
- Maintain and publish material standard sheets in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system for all new developments, capturing key information to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Act as primary contact for color, material availability, and stock-related inquiries.
- Partner with domestic Raw Materials Sourcing team to onboard new vendors for Canadian production.
- Partner with inline Materials Research and Innovation team to facilitate seamless development of crucial materials into the inline materials toolbox to meet quality and sustainability objectives.
- Partner with Inline Materials Research and Innovation team, to research and analyze global Fabric trends, materials, and technologies to inspire and inform Fabric development strategies.
About You:
- Minimum of 4+ years’ experience working with fabric suppliers and 3rd-party testing facilities
- Deep technical knowledge and understanding of textiles and non-textile manufacturing technologies, with a passion for sustainable product development.
- Excellent organization skills and the ability to multitask.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with a high level of flexibility to adjust to change within a fast-paced, creative team environment.
- Technically sound Fabric and color development background within the Apparel or Textile industry
- Ability to anticipate problems, offers solutions, and address issues with materials to meet the Creative Director’s aesthetic goals and business financial targets.
- Fluent French and English (verbal and written).
- Previous experience with a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system
Working Conditions:
- Office environment.
- Approximately 20% international and domestic travel required for CD meetings and tradeshows.
