Job Description and Duties

Under the supervision of a Custodian Supervisor I, of the Facilities Management Section, the Custodian is responsible for general nighttime cleaning of offices, labs, warehouses, and common areas by applying sustainable work practices to maintain a clean and sanitary environment. See the duty statement for specific job duties.

Working Days and Working Hours: Monday through Friday 4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

  • Knowledge of modern professional cleaning methods 
  • Knowledge of materials, products, disinfectants, and equipment used in professional cleaning 
  • Knowledge of methods and equipment used for carpet care 
  • Knowledge of methods and equipment used for floor care, such as buffing, stripping, and waxing 
  • Ability to safely use and care for equipment and supplies 
  • Ability to follow directions, learn and perform routine custodial tasks
