The Tech & Data department (~200 employees across the globe) provides products, services, and support to all SCOR Group worldwide. Its 2 key challenges today are to successfully implement its new Target Operating Model (TOM), to be supported by an ambitious pluri-annual internalization plan to deliver innovative products and services to its clients. 

 

The Tech & Data organization is an Agile matricial organization relying on 4 pillars:

  • Data and System Engineering, made of the following teams : Data Center of Excellence, Products and Systems Engineering and Enterprise Architecture 
  • Management & Control (M&C) & Corporate Systems, made of teams supporting Crews and Transversal Functional Domains: Governance, T&D Operating Model Implementation, Security & Compliance, Financial Control, Sourcing & Vendor Management, Governance, and Processes
  • Technical, made of teams dedicated to IT Operations, Network, Cloud, Workplace & Cloud Productivity Services
  • Crews and Transversal Functional Domains

 

Crews are supported by Chapters (System Engineering, Architecture, DevOps, …) and both Technical and M&C-C teams are fully dedicated to the delivery of SCOR products, services and support.

 

Under the operational responsibility of the Head of Software Engineering, the primary responsibilities of the Software Engineer are to design, build and ship software and systems, in the respect of existing policies and procedures that produce high-quality software products and services. Right from prototyping and designing functional code to coding and testing, you take ownership of the software until it is handed over to the end users.

Key duties and responsibilities

Your mission and tasks will be:

  • On software development 
  • Develop software applications and systems by analyzing user needs and designing solutions that meet stakeholders’ requirements
  • Write, test, and debug code in various languages in particular on batch processing technologies (C, SpringBatch, Shell, CMD, SQL, Java, Python etc.)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and squads, including product owners, solution owners, quality assurance team and other developers to deliver efficient and high-quality software solutions
  • Test software development methodology in an agile environment
  • Participate in code reviews, peer programming, and continuous integration and delivery processes

 

  • On software maintenance 
  • Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms: troubleshoot and fix software defects, performance issues, and software compatibility problems
  • Maintain documentation and version control of software code and related artifacts
  • Implement software security best practices and adhere to industry standards and regulations

 

  • On innovation
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends, technologies, and software engineering best practices.
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices

Required experience & competencies

  • +8 years of coding experience particularly on batch processing technologies. Proven experience as a Batch Software Engineer (or similar role) with a track record of successful technical oriented team management as part of an international organization
  • Experience/  Knowledge of the Reinsurance business and/or the financial services industry is a plus

 

Hard skills

  • Strong experience of Business & IT agile ways of working, experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies
  • Hands-on experience working with various technology
  • Strong programming skills in programming languages such as C, SpringBatch, Shell, CMD, SQL
  • Experience with software development tools and frameworks such as Git, JIRA, Jenkins, etc.
  • Familiarity with software engineering principles and design patterns
  • Demonstrable experience in developing scalable software applications and systems
  • Knowledge of software security principles and practices
  • Experience with test-driven development and automated testing frameworks
  • High curiosity about technology / coding innovation
  • Fluent in English (written, spoken)
  • Familiar with the following software/tools:
    • Experience with infrastructure automation technologies like Docker
    • Experience with build automation technologies like Jenkins.
    • Experience with monitoring technologies like Nagios
    • Experience with modern programming languages like Spring batch, Java, Python, etc.
    • Experience with job scheduling tools like VTOM
    • Experience with building APIs and services using REST, SOAP, etc.
    • Experience with scripting languages

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Familiarity with DevOps principles and practices
  • Experience in database management systems (SQL Server, DB2, Sybase)
  • Knowledge of machine learning, artificial intelligence, or data science

 

Soft skills

  • Strong analytical thinking, solution-oriented and force of proposals
  • Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely

Required Education

Master degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
