In the Materials and Structural Analysis (MSD) Division of Thermo Fisher Scientific we provide innovative solutions for electron microscopy in scientific and industrial lab environments. A key component of those solutions is software.
The Position
The position of Software Engineer in Athena Platform team is available in the Data and Artificial Intelligence (D&AI) team that is part of MSD R&D with colleagues across the USA, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and France. In particular, the position is for the SAFe organization and synchronization of our Athena Imaging Data Management platform, which is mostly based in Bordeaux, France.
The Athena team is an energetic and enthusiastic team that is building an extraordinary workflow management system, supporting and enabling our customers in semiconductor industry, life sciences and material sciences to make new discoveries and create new devices every day!
Athena Platform is run in several sub-teams with a dedicated focus : back-end, front-end and system. The successful candidate will be part of deliveries on the back-end sub-team for multiple milestones and contribute to milestone planning.
In this role you will:

Contributes to projects and day-to-day teamwork

Deliver assigned feature, by coding and testing

Maintains/Update code with high business value

Is able to review code source written by his/her team

Follows any priority Bugs/defects including critical customers issues

Follows existing processes and provides feedback on task/job area specific improvements
The candidate
The ideal candidate enjoys working in a multi-cultural, collaborative high-tech data science and software environment.
Besides that, you have:
-
Academic education (MSc+) preferably in software engineering
-
5+ years of experience in Web-based software development
-
Strong experience coding computer software. Educate best practices. Ability to perform technical tasks outside of its initial scope (UX, Test, Architectures) with the close supervision of experts in its fields.

Strong skills in .Net, Kakfa, MongoDB, RabbitMQ technologies

Identifies new/additional tasks required and seeks approval/guidance to be performed.

Listen and take notes. Handles individual follow actions without prompting

Strong technical experience + capacity to share and teach
