Sr Application Development Engineer, Visualization and Data Solutions (VDS)

Location/Division Specific Information

Our VDS BU specializes in analytical digital solutions to accelerate innovation and productivity across research and industrial laboratories. This includes advanced visualization and analysis software for understanding 2D-5D bioimaging sample and materials structures. The position is based in our Bordeaux office in France. You will report to Jérôme Hummel, Director of Product Management.

How You Will Make an Impact

As a Sr Application Development Engineer, you will be involved in groundbreaking technology for devices that promote health, cleanliness, and safety. You will collaborate with various teams and scientists to develop products from start to finish. This role offers growth opportunities within the product management team and across the organization.

What Will You Do?

• Collaborate and network extensively with external customers and internal partners, including the Commercial, Marketing, Senior Management, Project Managers, Engineers, and industry representatives.
• Build solutions for a specific market and business unit, achieving objectives that directly impact the VDS strategic plan.
• Write detailed specifications for solutions, prototype them, and iterate on best ways forward.
• Provide significant inputs to product management to optimize products and improve processes.
• Participate in the VDS AI product strategy as an AI expert.
• Conduct investigations on promising new technologies.
• Support R&D and product marketing by providing applications expertise.
• Beta test the VDS portfolio and provide feedback for improved usability and quality.
• Develop tutorials, proof of concept, examples, and use-cases.
• Deliver marketing and sales collateral to the Product Marketing group for incorporation into materials.

How Will You Get Here?

This position is ideal for an experienced computer scientist with strong expertise in image processing, deep learning, data science, and data analysis. Skills in visualization and/or EM pre or post-processing techniques are a plus.

Education

• PhD degree or equivalent experience in computer science, with a specialization in classical image processing techniques as well as deep learning and data science.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Highly desirable to have: a scientific background with a strong software culture, innovation and design thinking, software product management, and software development lifecycle experience.
• Ability to collect and align requirements from user perspectives.
• Solution-focused, creative problem solver, forward-thinking individual.
• Image processing expert with a proven track record in classical image processing techniques and AI such as machine and deep learning.
• Knowledge of the Semiconductor market, especially the image processing challenges related to it, is a strong plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with diverse audiences.
• Capacity to autonomously find opportunities, define, and implement solutions.
• Ability to own and lead projects.
