As Senior Software Engineer , Machine Learning at Swapcard, you will be a key member of the Swapcard Lab team, focusing on developing and maintaining our recommendation system and meetings generator. The Lab is the business and research division of Swapcard, driving innovation in artificial intelligence. You’ll collaborate with a Senior Machine Learning/AI Research Scientist and other experts to shape the future of AI in the events industry. 
Currently, the Lab is focused on three key areas :Matchmaking – Delivering personalized recommendations for networking, sessions, exhibitors, and products to enhance engagement and interactions before, during, and after events.Meaningful Insights – Providing organizers with valuable insights into audience engagement through various indicators, helping assess engagement levels across content, networking, and overall participation.Large Language Models (LLM) – A future focus area for the team, aimed at evolving event organizer support by fine-tuning LLMs with event data. This includes generating event templates, summaries, and automatic filters, streamlining operational processes and scalability.

Specifically, you will be responsible for the following tasks, with a particular focus on transforming research work into marketable products:

  • Developing and Implementing ML architecture: Involvement in designing ML models to generate new, valuable content or features for the product. Following MLOps principales to drive Design, Development, and Operations excellence. Solid foundation in data science and machine learning principles, as well as creativity and innovation to explore new solutions.
  • Data Analysis and Interpretation: Turning complex data into actionable insights is crucial for guiding the development of features that meet user needs and enhance the product’s value proposition.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Working closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensuring that ML initiatives align with the overall product strategy and business goals.
  • Advocating for Technical Excellence: Pushing for high standards in code quality, security, and performance, and maintaining these through code reviews and best practices.
  • Solving Complex Problems: Taking on high-level technical challenges and driving solutions that have a broad impact on the team and product.
  • Operational Support: Participating in war-room to troubleshoot and resolve critical issues.

Requirements

  • Must have
  • Proficient in Python, with solid understanding and practical experience beyond basic familiarity.
  • Experience in working with data models, building specific machine learning models using DBT, and orchestrating workflows with Dagster or Argo Workflows for example.
  • Negotiable skills
  • Preferred ML experience: Proven success in designing and optimizing ML services, with a strong emphasis on diagnosing and preventing performance issues.
  • Wanted skills
  • Curiosity and Innovation: The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong curiosity and willingness to explore uncharted territory. They should be open to experimenting with novel approaches, even if it means stepping outside their comfort zone.
