  • At least 70% of your assignment will be spent on academic research, more in particular for the support of the EOS project Homistasis
  • You will assist in teaching activities at the Bachelor’s or Master’s level, more in particular for the MSc course Interphase Processes of Host Associated Microorganisms.
  • You will counsel Master’s students in their exercises, work placement and Master’s dissertation.
  • You will counsel doctoral students during their research projects on microbe-host interaction technology.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You hold a doctoral degree in Bioscience Engineering, Applied Biological Sciences or equivalent. The degree requirements need to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment.
  • You have a broad knowledge of the domain of the human microbiome
  • You have in-depth knowledge of in vitro technologies to investigate the human microbiome
  • You have in-depth knowledge of microbial ecology, microbial dynamics and functional niches
  • You’re familiar with several -omics techniques to analyze the microbiome
  • You have distinguished yourself as a promising researcher in your doctorate.
  • You are profoundly interested in coaching students in the Bachelor’s, Master’s and/or Advanced Master’s programmes.
  • You may present relevant scientific publications in (inter)national peer-reviewed academic journals that are widely disseminated.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer you a contract of definite duration for a period 18 months
  • Your contract will start on 1/01/2025 at the earliest.
  • Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale PD1 to PD4 (if you hold a doctorate).
