The Department of Biomedicine at Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as a lab coordinator in the field of inflammation and cardiometabolic disease as per 1 March 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a permanent full-time position.The Department of Biomedicine prioritises diversity and a good work environment, as this is a prerequisite for groundbreaking research. You can read more about the department and about the faculty .Your job responsibilities As a lab coordinator, your primary role is to support the research activities of the team, which includes PhD students, postdoctoral and MD fellows, and the Principal Investigator (PI). A significant part of your responsibilities involves organizing and overseeing the recruitment of research participants for clinical projects, as well as managing the associated administrative tasks.In addition, up to 20% of your time may be allocated to support research activities, including conducting experiments, analyzing data, and providing scientific input. You will also contribute to collaborative research projects within the group by offering support and scientific insights and support.Your daily work will involve close collaboration with skilled colleagues. You will be responsible for onboarding new team members by introducing them to standard operating procedures (SOPs) in both the laboratory and clinical settings. You may support supervision of students and technicians as part of your role.Your role will be integral to the smooth operation and success of the research group, requiring both organizational skills and scientific expertise.Your main tasks will involve the following:

  • Tools, systems and IT
  • Proficiency in tools such as REDCap, GraphPad Prism, and Indfak.
  • Administrative responsibilities
  • Ordering materials and reagents.
  • Coordinating the scheduling of research and clinical studies, including liaising with study participants and lab/clinical staff.
  • Organizing and coordinating staff meetings.
  • Performing general laboratory housekeeping tasks.
  • Teaching and assignment supervision
  • Introducing new staff members to SOPs in both laboratory and clinical contexts.
  • Supervising students, researchers and other technicians.
  • Research support within specific areas,
  • Performing standard laboratory techniques, such as tissue fixation and immunostaining, cell culture, DNA/RNA extraction, ELISAs, electrophoresis, and flow cytometry.
  • Assisting with data analysis, protocol development, and the preparation of scientific manuscripts.
  • Other tasks
  • Supporting clinical and research staff by preparing materials for studies, which may include labeling tubes, assembling study kits, and facilitating participant recruitment.
  • Assisting study participants by coordinating appointments, guiding them through logistical details (e.g., parking, meals), and escorting them to appointments as needed.

You will report to the Associate Professor Emma BörgesonYour competences You have a background within the research area and experience with molecular biology techniques.Having a good clinical practise (GCP) course certificate is an advantage.
