Job description
Offer DescriptionThe aim of the project is to investigate the effect of increasing surface area (volume) on lowering the detection limit of affinity-based (immuno-) and catalytic (enzyme) sensors, both electronic (field-effect transistor-based) and electrochemical, while increasing their sensitivity. The Debye shielding phenomenon limits the use of field-effect transistor technology in markerless biosensors. Increasing the surface area can help overcome this problem. To achieve this, single-layer graphene will be decorated with semiconducting single-layer carbon nanotubes to form a dense network. It is hypothesised that the three-dimensional field-effect transistor-based biosensor will enable analyte-bioreceptor pair binding events in the network volume, allowing the determination of femtomolar concentrations in complex biological matrices (e.g. serum). We are offering a post-doc position for a young post-doc in a modern research unit at the Warsaw University of Technology. The candidate will join a team working in a ‘clean-room’ environment at the Centre for Advanced Materials and Technology CEZAMAT. Main responsibilities include sample preparation and conducting wet chemistry experiments, development of electrochemical and electronic biosensor technologies, as well as data analysis, report writing, publication writing and participation in conferences.Where to apply E-mail[email protected]RequirementsResearch Field Chemistry » Analytical chemistry Education Level PhD or equivalentResearch Field Chemistry » Biochemistry Education Level PhD or equivalentResearch Field Chemistry » Physical chemistry Education Level PhD or equivalentResearch Field Engineering » Biomedical engineering Education Level PhD or equivalentResearch Field Engineering » Electronic engineering Education Level PhD or equivalentResearch Field Technology » Biotechnology Education Level PhD or equivalentResearch Field Technology » Chemical technology Education Level PhD or equivalentResearch Field Technology » Electrical technology Education Level PhD or equivalentResearch Field Technology » Materials technology Education Level PhD or equivalentResearch Field Technology » Nanotechnology Education Level PhD or equivalentResearch Field Physics » Electronics Education Level PhD or equivalentSkills/Qualifications1. a PhD degree or equivalent in a life science (e.g. Chemistry, Biotechnology, Physics, Biomedical Engineering) or in Electronics/Electrical Engineering.2. proven experience in the design and implementation of biosensors, with a preferred publication record in electrochemical or electronic biosensors.3. basic knowledge of biochemistry.4. ability to analyse data, particularly using automated programming methods (e.g. Python).5. experience working in a clean-room environment will be an advantage.6. good manual skills and precise laboratory work.7. very good oral and written English language skills to prepare scientific publications.8. strong motivation for scientific work and openness to think outside the box.Specific RequirementsSee SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS; in addition:1.
