We are seeking to appoint a new Senior Lecturer in Computer Science with a particular interest in Multimodal and Causal AI in Healthcare. Multimodal AI, which integrates diverse data types such as imaging, sensor data and clinical notes, is critical for creating comprehensive models of patient health and delivering more accurate, personalized care. Causal AI, with its focus on understanding causation through interventions and counterfactual reasoning, is essential for identifying the underlying factors that drive outcomes in clinical decision-making and patient treatment. By leveraging these advanced AI techniques, healthcare professionals can make more informed, evidence-based decisions that directly improve patient outcomes and optimize healthcare practices.The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to both the research excellence and teaching quality, pushing the boundaries of Multimodal (e.g. VLM) and Causal AI applications in healthcare.The post will include:
- Fulfilling research, teaching and administration duties as a senior lecturer in Computer Science.
- Developing and delivering captivating lectures and seminars on topics pertinent to Multimodal and Causal AI in Healthcare.
- Actively engaging in securing research income through grant applications and industry collaborations, advancing the department’s research agenda in Multimodal and Causal AI in Healthcare.
- Publishing high-quality research findings in reputable journals and conference proceedings.
- You will be working within the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy.
About youFor a Senior Lecturer post you will have:
- A PhD or equivalent in Computer Science and have an independent, internationally-recognised research programme in a relevant active field of research.
- Demonstrated expertise in Multimodal and Causal AI in Healthcare.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with a genuine passion for teaching and mentorship.
- A strong record in attracting funding for research or demonstrating potential to attract such funding.
- An active approach to inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research.
- Enthusiasm for delivering high quality undergraduate programmes.
- Strong connections and funded projects with business and community partners.
- Involvement in projects which develop impact.
- A strong potential for research leadership.
- A track record in refereed publications and success in significant grant capture.
- Relationships with external organisations and funders/ and knowledge and experience of key sectors or business challenges.
