Job title:
Postdoctoral Researcher in Computational Biology/ Artificial Intelligence
Company:
Humanitas
Job description
Postdoctoral Researcher in Computational Biology/ Artificial IntelligenceHumanitas Research Hospital is a highly specialised research and university hospital. It is the first Italian hospital certified for its excellence by the Joint Commission International as Academic Hospital and it hosts a research center, as well as the residency programs and clinical training of Humanitas University, an international Medical School that stands out for its real-world simulation-based approach to medical training.Humanitas Research is made possible every day by more than 500 passionate physicians, biologists, physicists, data scientists and technologists, that work in the hospital wards and across 10.000 square meters of high-tech laboratories at the Humanitas University campus. Their common mission is advancing science to make a difference in patients’ lives.Humanitas Research is guided by unmet clinical needs and it leverages high-end technologies to dissect the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying human pathologies in fields ranging from cardiovascular medicine to neuroscience, from immunology to cancer and microbiology, with the final goal of developing new therapies and new diagnostic and prognostic strategies. The institute is recognized worldwide for its contribution to the field of tumor immunology and to the understanding of the inflammation-cancer connection.Position OverviewThe Computational Biology lab led by Prof Charlotte Ng ( ) is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher in Computational Biology/ Artificial Intelligence (100%) to join our team of bioinformaticians and computational biologists. The laboratory aims to address questions related to the contribution of important molecular alterations and their interactions to cancer development and patient prognostication. We integrate multi-omics approaches, including single-cell and spatial omics, histopathology and in silico modeling to identify and to characterize prognostic and/ or predictive biomarkers to address outstanding questions in precision oncology.The candidate will further our understanding of cancer biology using multi-omics profiling and computational biology approaches. The candidate will have the opportunity to develop, optimize and apply cutting-edge AI methods to analyse and integrate diverse, state-of-the-art sequencing applications to define cancer-driving alterations and interactions. The candidate will have the flexibility to develop and lead their own projects within the areas of interest of the laboratory.Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate existing AI approaches to model multiomics data from cancer tissues
- Optimize and develop AI approaches to address challenges in applying AI to multiomics data
- Apply cutting-edge and/or optimized AI approaches to analyse and integrate diverse, state-of-the-art multiomics data to define cancer-driving molecular alterations and biomarkers
You’re the perfect candidate if you:
- Have a PhD degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, bioinformatics, computational biology or a related discipline;
- Have a strong background in machine learning and artificial intelligence
- Have strong computational and statistical skills (e.g. unix, python, R)
- Are interested in applying AI to biomedical problems
- Have excellent communication, organizational and writing skills in English;
- Be motivated and independent, while being able to interact effectively with other members of the team.
Additional requirements we are looking for:
- experience with image analysis
- experience with biomedical data and omics data analysis
What we offer:In Humanitas you will find a stimulating and dynamic research environment, a strong network of international collaborators and exciting opportunities for your professional growth.You will have the autonomy and responsibility on prestigious projects, and access to state-of-the-art infrastructure and core computing and experimental facilities in a vibrant, world-class research environment.All candidate data collected from the application shall be processed in accordance with applicable law: Dlgs 198/2006 e dei Dlgs 215/2003 e 216/2003; privacy ex artt. 13 e 14 del Reg.
