Job DescriptionOverview: The Data Science & Analytics Senior Specialist role will collaborate with the Human Health Digital, Data and Analytics area to utilize data for generating actionable insights. These insights aim to enhance customer and market understanding, inform launch brand strategies, support in-line brand growth objectives, and improve customer engagement. The role involves facilitating the creation of commercial use-cases that support data-driven decisions, leveraging knowledge across the organization to be more relevant to the customer.The ideal candidate will possess an entrepreneurial spirit, a thorough understanding of healthcare and technology, and a proven track record of generating actionable insights from analytics. They must demonstrate the ability to work objectively, manage ambiguity effectively, and exhibit strong partnership skills. This position necessitates interfacing and collaborating with multiple teams, requiring exceptional communication abilities.Successful candidates in this role are motivated to understand pharma secondary data sources and can translate objectives and business questions into analytical problems, delivering scalable, actionable insights.Additional Key ResponsibilitiesUnderstand the internal stakeholder business needs and priorities to build analyses that promote business objectives by providing actionable insights.Analyze data using advanced analytical/statistical techniques from various databases/sources (claims data/EMR data and other sources) to optimize and improve therapy area commercial business strategies.Ensure delivery of high-quality, timely, compliant analyses with excellent user experience (keep clients updated on progress).Understand the complexity/dependencies between multiple teams and platforms (people, technologies).Communicate with other platforms/competencies to understand new trends/methodologies being implemented or considered within the company ecosystem and bring forward new ideas to enhance analytic capabilities.Contribute to innovative experiments, including idea generation, incubation, and experimentation, by identifying tangible and measurable criteria.Where applicable, collaborate within the organization to identify, work with, and source externally available data based on business needs and specific business objectives.Effectively communicate and influence stakeholders positively.Knowledge | SkillsWork objectively and collaboratively as a team member with integrity, precision, accomplishment, motivational ambition, and respect.Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience in using data science to achieve measurable impact in the commercial pharmaceutical landscape. Proficient in mining medical claims/EMR, social media, and other data with a strategic and inquisitive mindset, demonstrating a proven ability to generate actionable business insights that drive positive commercial results.Provide actionable insights through analytics to commercial franchise brands at various stages of the product life cycle (development, launch, maturity, end of life cycle). Skilled in formulating business questions in alignment with client insight standards and evaluating data features from medical claims/EMR and other sources to determine the best data source for answering business questions.Capable of extracting data from various database tables using tools such as Python, R, and SQL to develop features for analysis, including performing feature engineering. Experienced in developing both machine learning and descriptive algorithms/models using languages such as Python and R.Collaborate with diverse groups of colleagues and manage ambiguity positively. Demonstrates self-motivation, proactivity, and the ability to work objectively with minimal direction. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of business processes and industry/market trends within the pharmaceutical/healthcare sector.Exhibits strategic business acumen, with the ability to understand business processes and commercial strategies in detail—both globally and regionally—and translate these into detailed business standards/questions that drive analytics. Displays effective stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with colleagues from various backgrounds and seniority levels.Demonstrates strong organizational skills, with the capacity to navigate complex matrix environments and prioritize work efficiently. Proven track record of successfully completing multi-stakeholder projects requiring cross-functional coordination among several departments.Advanced proficiency in leveraging data science methodologies, including advanced statistical methods, Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence, and Natural Language Processing (NLP) modeling and model evaluation, is an advantage.Qualifications: Education & ExperienceAn undergraduate degree is required.An MBA, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, Decision Science, Marketing, Engineering, or Public Health is preferred.A minimum of 3 years of experience in developing strategic insights for senior leaders is necessary.
