At Arup, our innovative spirit and determination enables us to express our ingenuity in unique ways developing many of the world’s most innovative and sustainable projects.We are seeking a Structural Engineer for a full-time position to join the Advanced Digital Engineering team within ARUP Milan Office, who has zero to two years of experience with structural engineering.The OpportunityDuring your work at Arup, you’ll have the chance to engage in a fulfilling career and work with some of the most highly respected engineers and specialists in the world. You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Work on local and international projects,
  • Be part of a growing group of engineers of diverse technical background, specialised in the FE analysis and simulation of structures and systems under dynamic loading;
  • Perform linear and nonlinear analysis for buildings and heavy civil engineering structures, including above and below structures and use or develop nonlinear material models, including steel fibre reinforced concrete;
  • Assess existing structures under static and seismic loads;
  • Design and analyse seismic retrofits for existing structures;
  • Learn and develop further our the digital workflow for seismic assessment and design of structures;
  • Use scripting to automate analysis process (e.g. Grasshopper, Python, Javascript, C#)

Does this role inspire you?Proven knowledge of:

  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering
  • dynamics and seismic engineering;
  • structural design of reinforced concrete and steel structures;
  • nonlinear finite element method and FE software skills.
  • Ability to apply standard engineering techniques and sound engineering judgment.
  • Able to work as part of a team and collaboratively and co-operatively in multidisciplinary international environment and delivery projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform in a deadline environment.
  • Fluent in Italian and English, both spoken and written.

Preferred:Attitude of taking initiative, enthusiasm, passion and eagerness to learn.Knowledge of coding languages.Familiar with FEA software for nonlinear analysis (e.g. LS-DYNA, Ansys, Nastran, Diana etc.),Basics of masonry and timber structures.Evidence of personal investment in academic or extracurricular fields.History of technical presentations and technical writing.Why Arup?At Arup, we believe in rewarding our members for their contributions to our shared success.
