About usThe Academic Careers Office (ACO) purpose is to promote, support and develop all aspects of academic and clinical academic careers in health and life sciences disciplines across UCL. The ACO is part of the Office of the Vice Provost for Research Innovation and Global Engagement (RIGE). By working closely with a broad spectrum of UCL researchers, NHS partners, industry partners, other UCL divisions and external funding bodies, the ACO achieves its goals through the integrated activities in two main areas:
- A Clinical Academic Training programme through the NIHR Integrated Academic Training (IAT) for medics and dentists at UCL (and the largest programme in the country), as well as the Specialized Foundation Programme (SFP) and other key activities alongside NHS partners for healthcare professional and their research workforce.
- A Capacity Development and Talent Management programme for the UCLH BRC, CDTs/DTPs across UCL and LMS faculties, which includes a comprehensive programme of training activities and skills development for clinical trainees, translational researchers and other health researchers across UCL.
The ACO is a small team with six dedicated and dynamic members of staff who support each other and work in collaboration across the university to achieve the team’s goals. The ACO is a friendly, creative and inclusive team.About the roleThe Programme Manager will develop and manage a portfolio of training programmes and events designed to support researchers and students to develop their careers. These schemes will align with the education and capacity building strategies of the ACO. The post holder will work closely with the IAT Programme Manager to provide effective and efficient co-ordination of the work of the ACO.The role represents a fantastic career growth opportunity, and the role holder will be encouraged to train and develop their expertise in an area of interest.
- This is a full-time and open-ended (permanent) role.
- This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role.
- This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 40% on site.
